The power of peer to peer in students’ decision-making

Thursday 4 June 2020 13:15
Open to all

Summary

This session will discuss how peer to peer can support students through different stages of the application cycle, centred around the Unibuddy on UCAS initiative. It will be delivered as a one-hour panel session with a Unibuddy staff member and Yvonne Ashby, Head of Careers at Wootton Academy Trust.

In the first 20 minutes, our Unibuddy team will use insight from 1,000,000+ conversations to discuss how peer to peer can inform and solidify students’ decision-making, helping them to make choices they are more confident in. We will talk through the Unibuddy on UCAS platform, and demonstrate how students can use this as a research tool during the university application process. Following this, Yvonne will talk about how this has been embedded this into her advice and guidance programme to help students make better informed decisions. The session will finish with an audience Q&A where they will have the opportunity to put their questions to the Unibuddy team, and to Yvonne.

Learning outcomes

  • Understanding how peer to peer can be used as a research and information tool for students during the decision-making process.
  • Learning how Unibuddy on UCAS can be integrated into advice and guidance for students, to assist them throughout the application cycle.
