If there's one thing our 160 year history has taught us, it's that employers are expecting more than ever from modern graduates. Our job is to ensure you leave your course ready to exceed those expectations - equipping you with the hands-on skills and workplace confidence you'll need to succeed.

Employability sits at the heart of everything we do. Our curriculums, created in collaboration with industry employers, guarantee that the skills and knowledge you gain have genuine market value. Our teaching teams extend this value, injecting their first-hand experience into every aspect of your degree.

Everyone learns differently. If at any point during your studies you feel you may benefit from extra support, you'll be able to access it. This isn't limited to academic support either. Whether you want help setting up your own business, are worried about your finances or simply want help with looking for part-time work, our support services will be there for you.

Accommodation

Our six student residences are great places to work, relax and meet new friends. All are located in Southampton city centre and are within a fifteen minute walk of the main campus. If you’d rather rent a place of your own, we can help you to find a suitable private landlord.

Living in Southampton

Fees and Finance

The cost of going to university can be a worry, but there's plenty of financial support on offer. Visit our finance section to learn about tuition fees, securing a tuition loan or applying for grants and bursaries.

Great work depends on great tools. Here at Solent you'll train using the same high-end facilities you would expect to find in the workplace, helping you to hit the ground running after graduation.

Living in Southampton

Being a University student is about more than just the things you study or the qualifications you earn. You’ll be making friends, having fun and experiencing life as part of Southampton’s 30,000-strong student community. Our campus (and six halls of residence) can all be found in the heart of the city, so you'll never be far from the things that make life in Southampton great.

Southampton is a city with something for everyone. Beautiful city centre parks, an electric night-time economy and a thriving arts and music scene all meet to offer residents something truly unique.

Moving away from West Quay (one of the UK’s largest shopping centres) and towards the waterfront, you’ll find a hub of independent eateries, venues and stores. At the other end of the city is Bedford Place, the centre of the city’s night-life and home to a huge range of pubs and clubs.

There’s plenty going on here on campus too. The Students’ Union is complemented by fitness facilities, a student-run cinema and a range of other leisure venues. Spend downtime between lectures relaxing in our cafés or step out of the front reception directly in one the city’s five parks.
