Architecture: Preparing and pitching a successful portfolio

Tuesday 8 June 2021 11:10 - 12:00
Presentation – information giving with time for questions
Open to all

Summary

“A portfolio is not only about the work inside it, but about the way the work is presented and communicated as an overall narrative to best tell your story as a creative individual”.
The portfolio is a significant part of the admissions process - while grades signify academic achievements, the portfolio displays creative ability. Dr Eftychia Spentzou, Undergraduate Admissions Tutor for BArch Architecture, will provide guidance on the key elements of preparing a high-quality portfolio.

The session will include real examples from students’ portfolios as well as advice on how applicants can articulate their creative ability during interview.

Learning outcomes:

  • An understanding of the essential criteria for an applicant’s portfolio (format, size, materials, content)
  • An understanding of how applicants can articulate their ability to be creative and critically reflective through presenting their design processes
