The power of peer to peer in students’ decision-making

Tuesday 2 February 2021 14:10 – 15:00
Open to all

Summary

After 2020, it’s clear that digital is here to stay - with online peer to peer being the centre point of many students’ university decision making process in the past few months. Ian from the Unibuddy team will be joined by one of our partner Universities to discuss why this is so powerful, and how you can best support and guide your students in this decision making journey.Ian will share insights from the 6,000,000+ conversations shared on our platform - to discuss how peer to peer can inform and solidify students’ decision-making from their own home or classroom, helping them to make choices they are more confident in. We will talk through the Unibuddy on UCAS platform, and demonstrate how students can use this as a research tool during the university application process. Following this, our University partner will share how they have incorporated this into their advice and guidance programme to help students make better informed decisions. The session will finish with an audience Q&A where they will have the opportunity to put their questions to Ian and our University partner.

Learning outcomes:

  • Understand how peer to peer can be used as a research and information tool for students during the decision-making process.
  • Identify how elements of the offline experience - such as university Open Days or careers counselling - can be built into your lesson plans.
  • Learn how Unibuddy on UCAS can be integrated into advice and guidance for students, to assist them throughout the application cycle.
