Student life

Ranked one of the UK’s top-three student cities (QS Best Student Cities 2024), Manchester is a place where you can find a strong sense of belonging. Our city is special, and our campus is right at the centre of it.

Our accommodation offers you a safe space where you can share experiences and build friendships that last a lifetime. [LS2]

The Union is the beating heart of campus with an ever-changing schedule of events and activities. We have over 100 sports clubs and societies, including football, faith groups, film, baking, LGBTQ+, Taylor Swift and many more.

Manchester Met’s sports teams play against other UK universities and colleges in competitive matches, and the University also offers more relaxed sporting alternatives.

We’re here to help you at every step of your student journey with extensive support services including academic and study skills, counselling, mental health and wellbeing, and dedicated disability and inclusion services.

What's it like to live in North West?
Check out our region guide

The North West is made up of Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, and Merseyside. Its two biggest cities, Liverpool and Manchester, are global landmarks in music and football history.

The region was the heart of the industrial revolution – at one time, Lancashire produced half the world’s cotton. Many architectural reminders of this era remain, like Liverpool’s Royal Albert Docks and Chester's Victorian centre.

The stunning Lake District – home to England’s highest peak, Scafell Pike – needs no filters, while Blackpool is a seaside adventure.
