Tracking their applications

Once an applicant has sent their application and received a welcome email, they can check its progress by signing in to Track.

So they know what they need to do and when, encourage your students to find out how to track their application.

You can also check how your students’ applications are progressing in the ‘Tracking offers and decisions’ section of the adviser portal.

Keeping details up-to-date in Track

Encourage your students to keep their details up-to-date in Track, to avoid delays, and to ensure their application progresses as smoothly as possible.

  • Keep contact information up-to-date in Track
This includes their home address, phone number, and email address. If any of these have changed, or change in the future, they need to sign in to Track and update them in the ‘Personal details' section. Then, they’ll need to contact their chosen unis to update them too.
  • Make sure their name appears on the application exactly as it’s written on their exam entries
For example, if they’ve applied as ‘Katherine’ but on their exam papers they use ‘Katie’, it’s best to change their name on the application to avoid any confusion when the results are published. To do this, your students should get in touch with us as soon as possible.
  • Changes to qualifications and exam details applicants have entered in Apply
Make sure your students let us know straightaway if any of their exam details change, by completing our qualifications amendment form – they’ll also need to let their chosen universities and colleges know too. It's important they tell us, as it could delay the processing of results if we are not updated. If results can’t be verified, students might not get their place.
  • Nominated access
Your students may want to nominate someone who can make decisions on their behalf, and discuss their application with us, e.g. a parent, other relative, or guardian. If they didn’t nominate someone when they filled in their application, but now wish to do so, they can contact us directly.

Replying to offers

Now your students have sent their applications, hopefully they'll start receiving offers. To help them prepare, encourage them to:

It's not too late to apply

If any of your students missed the deadline, there’s still time to apply. Applications for courses with a 15 January deadline can still be sent to us until 30 June, but it’s not guaranteed they’ll be considered by universities or colleges, if the course is already full.

Before they apply, make sure your students check our search tool to find out if the uni or college still has vacancies.

What if things don't go to plan?

  • Extra – available from 25 February
Students who have used all five choices and don’t receive any offers, or decide to decline any offers they’re made, can use our Extra service from 25 February to add another choice.
  • Remind students that uni isn’t their only option
They could do an apprenticeship, go straight into the world of work, or take a gap year – all helping them develop skills and learn more about what interests them most. To help students make the right choice for them, we’ve got lots of information about the different options available.

Visit our exam results page to see what happens when, and understand more about the process, from now until results day.
