Getting ready

There are a number of ways you can help your students in the lead-up to results days:

  1. Make sure your students know when to reply to their offers.
  2. Remind your students to reply to any invitations they’re sent. These will either appear in Track as a request, or be sent directly to the applicant.
  3. Let us know at [email protected] immediately if any of your students’ exam details change, and let their chosen unis/colleges know too. If their results can’t be confirmed, your students might not get their place.
  4. Help students understand UCAS terminology – share our overview of the terms they might come across, and our Clearing and Adjustment posters.
  5. In case things don’t go to plan, get your students signed up to our direct contact service. It allows unis and colleges to contact them about places they have available on similar courses.

Important reminders

  • There’s still time to subscribe to Adviser Track, so you can see how your students’ applications are progressing. By signing up, you’ll also receive an email from us on results days, with a list of students who have not had their places confirmed.
    • If you'd like to receive our email on SQA results day, you need to subscribe by 15:00 (UK time) on Monday 5 August.
    • If you'd like to receive our email on A level results day, you need to subscribe by 15:00 (UK time) on Wednesday 14 August.
  • Make sure your colleagues and students are aware of the embargo periods and what they mean:
    • SQA results embargo period – 18:00 on 29 July until 09:00 on 6 August (UK time)
    • JCQ results embargo period – 14:00 on 9 August until 06:00 on 15 August (UK time)
  • During both embargo periods:
    • Track and Adviser Track will not be updated
    • universities and colleges cannot discuss an applicant’s individual status with them, or with an adviser
  • Before the summer holidays, please remind your students to:
    • make sure they know their Personal ID and password for Track
    • update their contact details in Track – otherwise, they may miss vital updates
    • regularly check Track – this could avoid the need to call us or their chosen university or college
    • avoid being on holiday when their results are published
