Learning support
- Students have access to specialist services providing academic, welfare and employability support.
 - Specialist assistive technology and software is available for loan and on campus, with comprehensive training and support.
 - The library provides in-person and online sessions, plus one-to-one support for students to develop their academic skills
 
Bursaries and scholarships
A range of scholarships and bursaries are available to help students succeed at Sheffield Hallam, examples include:
- Student success scholarships: get up to £2,100 per year* in financial support to help you with the cost of going to university. The amount you’re given will be based on your household income and a range of other factors. *Based on a UK student on a three-year full-time undergraduate course, accessing the maximum means-tested financial support available (with a household income of £62,347 or less).
 - Placement Bursary: £700 is available to help students during a placement year.
 - Care Leaver Package: up to £3,600 is available for students leaving local authority care.
 - Performance Athletes Support Programme: financial support for those who compete in sport at the highest level.
 - The Heller Bursary: up to £2,000 is available to fund an extracurricular passion.
 
Financial support
- 1696 undergraduate applicants are supported each year with the cost of travelling to open days.
 - An average of £30 is awarded to support travel with travel costs.
 
Health services
- An on-campus medical centre is provided by Porter Brook Medical Centre. Students can access medical centres from both campuses.
 - GP services offer a wide range of support, with access to antenatal care, eating disorder help, and sexual health clinics.
 - The medical centre is open Monday–Friday and offers extended hours for access around students' university commitments.
 - Discounted gym access with personal training sessions and tailored fitness plans available from trained professionals.
 - Discounted on-site physiotherapy services available.
 
Wellbeing and mental health support
- You can book an initial wellbeing appointment. One-to-one counselling can be accessed following referral.
 - Self-help resources, peer support groups, and workshops on bereavement, self-compassion, stress, anxiety, and emotion management.
 - Togetherall is a free, safe, online community where people support each other anonymously to improve mental health and wellbeing.
 
Disability support
- Support workers and assistants are available to help with mobility around campus.
 - Adapted accommodation available, including accessible flats, rooms for carers and larger rooms to accommodate equipment.
 - Assistive technology is available including specialist equipment and software.
