Student life

A PLACE TO BELONG
We’re as diverse as the city we’re part of, with a vibrant student community drawn from across the country and around the world.

WHY LIVERPOOL?
Original and inclusive for 140 years, we’re a truly inspirational place to learn and research. We’re also a place where students develop a rich world view, as well as the skills and confidence to thrive in today’s connected world. Liverpool is a city unlike any other.
Part tourist mecca, for Beatles’ lovers, football fans and culture vultures alike. Part creative hotspot, buzzing with independent spirit and never-has-to try-too-hard cool, all wrapped up in our unique warmth and humour. Voted the fourth friendliest city in the world by Rough Guides, Liverpool is a wonderfully welcoming place.
It’s home to 445,000 people and one unique spirit. The city’s entrepreneurial and creative spirit fuels business start-ups. Liverpool attracts global businesses to make the city their home. Liverpool marches to the beat of its own drum.

What's it like to live in North West?
Check out our region guide

The North West is made up of Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, and Merseyside. Its two biggest cities, Liverpool and Manchester, are global landmarks in music and football history.

The region was the heart of the industrial revolution – at one time, Lancashire produced half the world’s cotton. Many architectural reminders of this era remain, like Liverpool’s Royal Albert Docks and Chester's Victorian centre.

The stunning Lake District – home to England’s highest peak, Scafell Pike – needs no filters, while Blackpool is a seaside adventure.

Campus and facilities

ACCESSIBLE TO EVERYONE
On and off campus, you’ll meet people and ideas of every kind. It makes learning here a uniquely rich experience. And it shows that, when it comes to our civic roots, we’re as open and accessible as we’ve always been.

You’ll have lots of green spaces, cafes, bars and restaurants on campus and nearby independents in places like Hope Street. City centre is a 10-minute walk.

Whatever your sporting interests, we have a dedicated team of professional staff at our fitness centre to help you get the best out of our facilities. As soon as you start at Liverpool, you automatically become a member of the Guild of Students. From your first day and throughout your university years, the Guild will make sure you enjoy your time here with us.

Although our main campus is in the heart of Liverpool, we also have a partner university in Suzhou, China. Many of our students start their studies in Liverpool and have the chance to spend time studying in China.
