Our York campus is just a short journey from the historic city of York, one of the UK’s most vibrant and welcoming student cities. Life here is about more than studying, it’s about community and experience. From Student Union clubs and events to outdoor expeditions and fundraising challenges, there’s something for everyone.  

Our students also take part in Study Tours around the world, from Borneo and South Africa to coastal conservation trips in Whitby, offering unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime opportunities to apply your learning in real-world environments.  

For students at our Gateshead Centre, local accommodation and excellent public transport links make studying Veterinary Nursing accessible and convenient.

Campus and facilities

At University Centre Askham Bryan, we’re proud to be one of the UK’s leading land-based specialist institutions, offering outstanding learning facilities.

Our Wildlife Conservation Park welcomes over 20,000 visitors annually and is home to 100+ species, many part of global conservation efforts. As BIAZA members, students contribute to vital research and education projects.

Our Equine Centre features indoor and outdoor arenas, stabling, and advanced training equipment for real-world equine management experience. Veterinary Nursing students at York and Gateshead train in simulated clinical settings and our on-site kennel and cattery support Canine and Feline Behaviour and Training.

Adventure Sport students benefit from access to Yorkshire’s rivers, crags, and national parks, plus on-campus facilities like a climbing wall and gym.

Our £1.7m Precision Livestock Facility and Digital Skills Academy showcase innovation, sustainability, and cutting-edge technology in modern land-based education.
