International

Leeds College of Music is a leading European conservatoire.

We provide music education to a community of over 1900 musicians through a variety of programmes, including undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses, numerous short courses and Junior LCoM for those aged 9-18.

Leeds is third largest city in the UK and has a thriving, eclectic music scene which provides the perfect backdrop to studying music.

A Pioneering Place to Study Music

The conservatoire opened in 1965 as Leeds Music Centre, providing a Light Music course with a significant focus on Jazz. In 1993 Leeds College of Music launched the first Jazz degree in Europe, and in 2004 we became the first UK conservatoire to offer Popular Music, Music Production and later Music Business.

50 years since our inception, we now have a diverse offering of music degrees spanning Popular Music, Classical Music, Jazz, Music Production, Music Business, Film Music, Songwriting and Folk.

Strong Partnerships to Support Your Study

Leeds College of Music is the first and only English conservatoire to hold All-Steinway School status. The conservatoire is also a designated Apple Accredited Training Centre, a regional hub for BASCA (British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors), and a Roland Academy in association with Roland UK.

Over the last 50 years, numerous musicians, industry experts and supporters have been formally associated with the conservatoire. An Industry-Relevant Music Education

With state-of-the-art facilities and industry-leading staff, the conservatoire continually champions relevant and innovative music education that equips students with the knowledge and skills to meet the demands of a perpetually evolving industry.

An Accessible Music Education

Junior LCoM offers the opportunity for young musicians aged 9 to 18 to study at Leeds College of Music – either through one of our tailored short courses, The Generation Big Band or by joining our well-established Saturday Music School. We also offer Short Courses for adults in Music and the Creative Arts, from classical piano and music production, to photography and graphic design.

Almost 50% of degree level students are supported in their study with bursaries, and Leeds College of Music prides itself on making sure that music education is accessible for all.
