Birmingham
International
For over a century, the University of Birmingham has been challenging and developing great minds through outstanding teaching and world-leading research. Characterised by a tradition of innovation, the University continues to produce ground-breaking research, pushing boundaries and making an impact on people’s everyday lives. We still hold on to this tradition today and have ambitions for a future that will embed our work and recognition of the Birmingham name on the international stage.
At Birmingham we innovate, we push the frontiers of understanding; we ask new research questions, we turn theory through experiment into practice – because that’s what great universities do.
The University of Birmingham was established to unlock the global potential of a progressive city. We remain committed to ensuring our national and global influence while keeping the city’s renaissance at heart. Our campus is home to a wealth of historical, scientific, cultural and sporting assets open to our community. We welcome you to visit, be inspired, entertained and expand your knowledge.
The University is in the midst of one of the most transformational campus redevelopments since the first phase of building on our Edgbaston campus was completed in 1909 under the auspices of Sir Aston Webb. The development projects, part of a ten year campus investment plan, are creating outstanding new facilities for our students, staff and the local community. The first phase of the capital masterplan included a state-of-the art library, world class sport and fitness centre and the transformational Collaborative Teaching Laboratory. The second phase will result in the creation of a new School of Engineering, Teaching and Learning Building and Molecular Sciences facility among others, providing the very best in educational facilities.
