University of Buckingham

Buckingham

Student life

Buckingham can be your home away from home – with all our accommodation a short distance from the town centre and campus. Get the best of both worlds; our green spaces and riverside campus are the ideal backdrop for your studies, and you won’t be stuck for things to do with cities like Oxford, Milton Keynes, and London on your doorstep.

You’ll have a wide range of clubs and societies that you can join when you start, and our Students’ Union will make sure your interests are at the heart of university decisions, as well as running campaigns and raising awareness of the issues that matter the most.

“The University of Buckingham is so unique with its innovative two-year degrees and a calm, picturesque campus. The small class sizes and tutorial groups mean that the lecturers know your name and can easily help you with any issues.” Phoebe, Economics

What's it like to live in South East?
Check out our region guide

South East England is made up of nine counties, with popular student cities in Brighton & Hove, Oxford, Portsmouth, Reading, and Southampton.

The area sees plenty of sunshine and Brighton – the LGBTQ+ capital of the UK – is a student favourite, with tons of quirky shops, cafes, arts, nightlife and watersports.

Moving east into Kent, you'll find the charming towns of Whitstable, Broadstairs, and Margate – all bursting with literary history – plus the iconic landmarks of Dover’s white cliffs and Canterbury Cathedral.

London is an hour or two away for gigs, theatre trips and capital city adventures, while the country’s two largest airports – Heathrow and Gatwick – mean international journeys are easy to get started.

Campus and facilities

Our Buckingham campus is made up of three sites, Hunter Street is our main site where you find the Students’ Union building - which has a bar and restaurant. The SU is the home to your societies and social activity; you won’t be short of things to do. There are plenty of study spaces too, from quiet areas in the library, to group working areas in the Vinson Building.

The Chandos Road building houses our Medical School, and contains teaching, studying and academic spaces. And our Verney Park site is just a short walk from Hunter Street, with its own library, communal spaces and state-of-the-art computer labs.

We also have a campus at Crewe, close to both Liverpool and Manchester – it is the home of a range of health sciences courses, as well as Medicine – which is also taught at Buckingham. Both our campuses have a wide selection of bars, cafés, and restaurants on campus or nearby in town, as well as great transport links to nearby towns and cities for nights out or weekend breaks.
