Course summary

This course is for those who wish to pursue a career in the fashion and textiles industry. This is a one year course at level 4, aiming to develop your skills and prepare you for further and higher studies. You will gain high level and specialist training in how to present and exhibit your work to industry standard and how to realise your fashion collection from idea to catwalk.

The course will provide you with real experience working on projects as well as gaining invaluable knowledge . You will be encouraged to enter prestigious competitions in order to market yourself as a designer and will have the opportunity to take part in the College's annual fashion show.

Assessment method

Assessment will be through coursework and presentations. Assessment of fashion products and artefacts that you have designed and/or produced will be a key aspect of assessment. There are no exams on this course.

Qualified teacher status (QTS)

To work as a teacher at a state school in England or Wales, you will need to achieve qualified teacher status (QTS). This is offered on this course for the following level:

Applicants are expected to have GCSE at grade 4 or above on entry, or equivalent qualification such as functional skills

Additional fee information

You will be provided with key course materials, students will need to purchase their own creative resources depending upon the projects undertaken. There additional costs are for the individual garments and collection that you will design and produce for your assessments and fashion show. There will also be some costs for art materials such as sketch books. We recommend that you budget for approximately £500.
