Interested in Primary Education? Do you want to make a difference in young children’s lives? Our BA Education Studies: Primary degree programme is designed to develop your understanding and skills for the education sector.

This degree will immerse you in a wide context of education, focusing on important areas such as inclusive education, how children learn, and professional education practices. Our programme is one of the very few in the UK dedicated to studying education in the primary school sector.

Throughout your studies, you’ll gain knowledge about classroom management, lesson planning, the curriculum and teaching approaches. These areas are crucial for creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all children.

The Education Studies: Primary degree prepares you for a variety of careers within the education sector. While many graduates become primary school teachers, others pursue roles in health and social work, where they can apply their knowledge and skills to support children and families.

In your first year, you will explore the foundations of education through a diverse range of modules exploring educational development, learning theory and practice and children’s rights.

The second year focuses on inclusive education and practical skills. Additionally, a module focussing on the Three Rs will enhance your understanding of core primary education subjects.

In your final year, you will undertake an Independent Project, allowing you to research a topic of interest in depth. You will also explore curriculum and assessment studies and topics looking into the impacts on children’s learning experiences.
