Course summary
Combining the study of computer science and electronics, and with no requirement for A-level maths, our BSc Computers with Electronics is a great way to investigate computer hardware and software, operating systems, and digital systems design.
Large parts of everyday life depend on computing, electronics and telecommunications. There’s no longer a distinct line between the disciplines – advances in electronics have made the internet, innovative telecommunications, and inexpensive computing products possible. Our work is driven by creativity and imagination as well as technical excellence in both disciplines.
In particular, you focus on:

Digital systems design at gate level, and how complex designs can be constructed from basic components

Programming at Essex
Teaching someone to programme is about opening a door. In your first year at Essex you will study a module that introduces you to programming using C. We assess your ability to think in a programmatic way in the very first week of term and if you require additional support, we offer classes which will boost your skills and confidence with programming.

Offers will be made from a minimum of the equivalent of 2 full A-levels

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - DMM

Entry requirements for students studying BTEC qualifications are dependent on subjects studied. Advice can be provided on an individual basis.

We can only accept QAA approved Access to HE Diplomas
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 29 - 30 points
"Or three Higher Level certificates with 555-554.
We are happy to consider a combination of separate IB Diploma Programmes at both Higher and Standard Level. Exact offer levels will vary depending on the range of subjects being taken at higher and standard level, and the course applied for.
