The BSc Data Science programme equips you with the skills for an exciting career in data analytics, data engineering, machine learning or AI.

Data scientists are in high demand across almost every industry sector, from technology and finance to healthcare, e-commerce, and manufacturing. Data scientists are needed to tackle a wide variety of challenges, ranging from mitigating climate change and detecting diseases to optimising production processes and enhancing customer experiences. Through technical analysis, design, and programming skills acquired at university, data scientists develop intelligent tools and workflows to improve the world around us.

In recent years, data science has experienced a revolution, with advancements in big data, predictive analytics, and AI technologies such as ChatGPT and Bard AI. These developments have improved how organisations automate processes, forecast trends, and connect with customers. However, as the amount, variety, and complexity of data continue to grow, one of the biggest challenges facing organisations today is how to interpret and apply data to inform business decisions.

To overcome this challenge, organisations require data scientists who have a broad range of statistical and data analysis tools and who can extract meaningful insights from data beyond just statistics. The BSc Data Science is designed to address this challenge by providing you with up-to-date knowledge and skills for a career in this rapidly evolving field.

This programme will help you develop essential data analysis and modelling skills, including programming, statistics, software engineering, data curation, and more. Additionally, the topic you study will provide you with advanced knowledge and techniques applicable to Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Distributed Systems and Cyber Security.

Throughout the programme, you will enhance your employability by also engaging with the legal and ethical standards relating to data while also learning how to effectively communicate data-driven ideas and solutions that can inform decision-making in any type of organisation.
