Course summary

The BSc (Hons) Animal Behaviour and Training course provides you with the skills and knowledge you need to begin work in one of the most diverse and rewarding sectors of the animal industry. This course will develop your knowledge and skills in animal behaviour and ethology, whilst exploring the ethics and key legislation necessary for anyone working with animals.

This course is delivered by Warwickshire College and validated in partnership with Coventry University, and is regulated by the Office for Students (OfS).

Assessment method

Each module has its own specific assessment profile, e.g. 100% coursework, or 50% coursework and 50% written examination.

Modules are assessed using a variety of methods (real life case studies, professional projects, reports and essays, presentations and video documentaries, research dissertation) allowing you to develop a range of skills related to the subject area and to build confidence in the subject.

Qualification requirements

UCAS Tariff - 96 points

This may be derived from a Level 3 qualification including BTEC Extended Diploma or City & Guilds Advanced Technical Extended Diploma in a related subject, T Level in Science or Animal Care and Management or A Levels, ideally including one science subject. Entry requirements are for guidance only. We welcome students with equivalent qualifications and combinations. Please contact us to discuss further.

GCSE/National 4/National 5

Applicants will also need five GCSEs at grade 4 or above (or equivalent) including English Language, Science and Mathematics.

Applicants will normally be expected to have some prior practical experience.

Essential: Aspinal and Capello: Introduction to Animal and Veterinary Anatomy and Physiology (approximately £30)
