Accreditations

  • This BEng is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) on behalf of the Engineering Council for the purposes of fully meeting the academic requirement for registration as an Incorporated Engineer and partly meeting the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered Engineer.

Future Careers

Electronic Engineering graduates are in greater demand than ever and career options include working in high-value manufacturing in the aerospace industry, in the Ministry of Defence or in research or development. Careers in digital communications, consumer electronics, security and surveillance, as well as banking and commerce, are also open to graduates.

Qualification requirements

UCAS Tariff - 104 points

including Maths and Physics or STEM subject. Our typical offer is 104 UCAS Points. We operate a flexible admissions policy and treat everyone as an individual. This means that we will take into consideration your educational achievements and predicted grades (where applicable) together with your application as a whole, including work experience and personal statement.

A level

104 UCAS points including A2 Maths at grade C, and Physics or a STEM subject at grade C. Acceptable STEM Subjects to replace Physics: Applied Science, Engineering, Electronics, Biology and Chemistry.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - DMM

Engineering BTEC - Merit in all of the following units: 1 Engineering Principles at Merit 7 Calculus to Solve Engineering Problems at Merit

Access to HE Diploma

104 UCAS points including 15 level 3 credits in Maths at Merit, and 15 level 3 credits in Physics or a STEM subject at Merit. Acceptable STEM Subjects to replace Physics: Applied Science, Engineering, Electronics, Biology and Chemistry.

Scottish Higher

104 UCAS points including Maths at grade C, and Physics or a STEM subject at grade C. Acceptable STEM Subjects to replace Physics: Applied Science, Engineering, Electronics, Biology and Chemistry.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - D*D

Engineering BTEC - Merit in all of the following units: 1 Engineering Principles at Merit 7 Calculus to Solve Engineering Problems at Merit

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme

Pass IB Diploma including 104 points from Higher Level Subjects, including Maths at HL5, and Physics or a STEM subject at HL5. Acceptable STEM Subjects to replace Physics: Applied Science, Engineering, Electronics, Biology and Chemistry.

GCSE/National 4/National 5

5 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above including Maths and English or equivalent. Equivalent qualifications are Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English or Level 3 Key Skills in Maths and Communication.

T Level - M

including Maths and Physics or STEM. The following T levels with an overall grade M are accepted for entry to this course: Design and Development for Engineering and Manufacturing Maintenance, Installation and Repair for Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing, Processing and Control
