The Higher National Diploma Top-Up in Engineering builds on students’ learning during the Level 4 Higher National Certificate in Engineering.
The course provides a comprehensive foundation for the current needs of industry in terms of the changing nature of moving away from the reliance on energy supply from a petrochemical basis to one where low carbon alternatives and the application of lean manufacturing philosophies are gaining dominance.
Additionally, the study of Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) and Embedded Systems included in the course supports the growing requirements for Engineers to have secure understanding for elements of automation and applications of ‘The Internet of Things’ which are vital for Industry 4.0.
The course enables students to develop many core skills which are required within all Engineering sectors, such as independent research, analysis, evaluation, technical report writing and presentation skills.
