There’s no getting away from it. To be a successful engineer you need good mathematics and science skills.
That’s where we start your foundation year – but we teach you much more to give you a flying start on BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering.
Delivering creative and effective solutions to real-world problems is at the heart of everything we do. To get there you’ll take part in live projects and annual industry challenges and get loads of hands-on experience in our cutting-edge facilities – all while choosing your own path through optional modules, individual and group tasks.
Mechanical engineering is a large, established field of engineering. It covers the design and manufacture of small components and devices right through to large scale items and systems. Also, recent, rapid developments in technology, such as 3D printing, have changed the face of mechanical engineering. To help you to keep up-to-date with these changes and to become a mechanical engineer of the future, we work closely with industry to ensure you are as well-prepared as possible for a career in this exciting and rewarding industry.
Don’t worry if you decide mechanical engineering isn’t for you at the end of your foundation year. The course’s flexibility means we can support you if you want to move on to one of our other engineering courses in your second year.
