Course summary

The Pearson BTEC HND Construction Management course is intended as a vocational qualification within the construction industry and is ideal for those who are already working in, or training for a technician role in the construction industry and are looking to enhance their qualifications to progress in their career.

The aim of this course is to develop students with a technical understanding of the construction industry, including the application of proven techniques and theories for the solution of real life problems.

Successful completion of the course will allow students to have a sound understanding of the principles in their area of specialist study and will know how to apply those principles more widely in the business world. They will be able to perform effectively in their specialist area.

This course is delivered by Warwickshire College and awarded by Pearson Education Ltd.

Students will also be expected to study three Level 5 optional units.

Assessment method

The units are integrated into a programme of continuous assessment through assignments and timed tests. There are several components to the assessment, both theoretical and practical.

Qualification requirements

UCAS Tariff - 48 points

Applicants will be expected to have at least 48 UCAS points which may be derived from a Level 3 qualification which could include BTEC Extended Diploma or City & Guilds Advanced Technical Extended Diploma in a related subject, T Level in Design, Surveying and Planning for Construction or at least two A Levels (grade A-E).

GCSE/National 4/National 5

Applicants will also need four GCSEs at Grade 4/C or above including Maths, English Language and Science.

The college would consider applications from mature students with relevant work experience who may not have related formal academic qualifications.

Additional entry requirements

Interview
All applicants will complete familiarisation exercises and will be invited to attend an application meeting prior to a place being offered. Applicants will be assessed on individual experience and will be expected to demonstrate an ability to study at higher education level and demonstrate a strong interest in the construction industry.
