Let your creativity flow and develop your own talent through live performances, studio recordings, concerts and gigs in the region.
Through practical projects and lectures in industry-standard facilities, you’ll explore and challenge the value, status and significance of music in our society in this music performance degree. Your practical work will culminate in a large-scale project to create a stepping stone for your future career.
We’ve strong partnerships with Opera North and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra (RPO). RPO hold masterclasses, offer one-to-one tuition, ensemble coaching and provide work experience opportunities.
This course is a variant of the BA Music programme. You’ll share the same modules as other BA Music students, but your assessments and specialist cluster groups will focus on performance.

A levels
BTEC Subsidiary Diploma, Diploma or Extended Diploma
OCR Cambridge Technical Introductory Diploma, Diploma or Extended Diploma
CACHE Diploma or Extended Diploma
Irish Leaving Certificate
Scottish Highers
Welsh Baccalaureate Advanced Diploma
or a combination of appropriate Level 3 qualifications
Applicants should have an A level in Music or Music Technology at Grade C or above, or an equivalent Level 3 music qualification
Pass Access to HE Diploma overall with a minimum 112 UCAS tariff points including a minimum of 18 credits at Merit in Music
Including grade 5 in Higher Level Music
Only acceptable if studied in addition to A level Music/Music Technology at grade C
Applicants should be at a minimum of Grade 7 standard in their instrumental or vocal studies. Musicians who can demonstrate performance at this level but who have not taken practical examinations are also encouraged to apply
Applicants with other qualifications are welcome to apply.
