Course summary

The Management School is amongst an elite group of business schools to hold the gold standard triple accreditation.

Our BA Accounting and Finance programme has a theoretical and practice-led approach covering the core aspects of accounting and finance including financial accounting, management accounting and finance. It also covers specialist areas such auditing, taxation and strategy to a level equivalent to the ICAEW professional stage.

Choosing this highly accredited course can give you an advantage in a range of careers including: accountancy – both in practice and in industry, investment banking, asset management and insurance in organisations such as Deloitte, EY, Grant Thornton, KPMG, NHS, PwC, Siemens as well as in the public sector. Some students also pursue further postgraduate study.

With close industry links, excellent teaching, and quality content the programme is accredited by the professional accountancy bodies and receives the maximum number of exemptions available to any university from the:

• Accredited by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) for the purpose of exemptions from some professional examinations.

• Accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB).

• Accredited by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) for the purpose of exemption from some professional examinations through the Accredited degree accelerated route.

• Accredited by the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) for the purpose of exemption from some professional examinations.

• Accredited by the Institute of Chartered Accountants England and Wales (ICAEW) for the purpose of exemption from some professional examinations.

• Accredited by the Institute of Chartered Accountants Scotland (ICAS) for the purpose of exemption from some professional examinations.
Accredited by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) for the purpose of exemptions from some professional examinations.

The third year of your programme is spent on placement. You will complete a year-long graduate-level placement, providing valuable work experience and an opportunity to further enhance the skills and attributes sought after by top employers.

You can apply for UK-based placements with a large organisation or smaller company or even seek a placement overseas. You will be visited at least twice by University staff whilst on placement with support from the Placement Team throughout and complete related assessments in May.

Access to HE Diploma - D: 45 credits

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 35 points

35 points with no score less than 4 - International Baccalaureate Mathematical Studies is not accepted for any Management School programme in lieu of GCSE Mathematics, or Higher Level Mathematics where this is a requirement

Welsh Baccalaureate - Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate (last awarded Summer 2024) - A

Accepted including two A levels at AB

Extended Project - A

Applicants who offer the Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and meet our offer criteria will be made the standard offer, plus an alternative offer. This will be at one A Level grade lower plus a grade A in the EPQ, for example the offer would be AAB or ABB plus A in the EPQ.

Leaving Certificate - Higher Level (Ireland) (first awarded in 2017) - H1, H1, H2, H2, H2, H3

GCSE/National 4/National 5

GCSE Mathematics at grade 5/C and GCSE English at grade 4/C required. Applicants with equivalent qualifications and applicants who do not meet the GCSE English requirements will be considered on an individual basis according to their circumstances.

T Level

Additional fee information

Tuition fees for Home undergraduates
If this is your first degree and you are a Home student applying for entry in 2024, you do not have to pay your fees upfront. Instead, you can take out a tuition fee loan which is paid straight to the University. This is available to most students, no matter what their household income.

For UK students applying for 2024 entry the Tuition Fees are £9,250.

Some programmes which include compulsory fieldwork or additional elements such as the Pilots Licence in Aerospace Engineering may incur additional costs. Where this is the case, those costs will be outlined at on-campus events such as the University Open Days or Post Application Visit Days
