This programme is for Level 1 entry only. Applicants for Level 2 and Level 3 entry should apply for BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering
Engineers are involved in a number of design and development activities. Mechanical Systems Engineering is a blend of mechanical engineering, computer-aided engineering, control engineering, electronic engineering and systems design engineering in order to design and manufacture useful products.
You will have access to cutting-edge equipment including CAD and CAM, FEA, as well as to electrical, control systems and instrumentationand electronic laboratories. There is also the opportunity for a 48- week industry placement. The BEng (Hons) degree is accredited by the IMechE as fulfilling the academic requirements for Chartered Engineer (CEng), with the addition of the MEng year or an accredited Masters degree. Successful completion of the BEng (Hons) degree allows transfer to the MEng.

A level - CCC

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - MMM
Year 1: BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma MMM in Engineering/Technology subject. Must include Maths
Scottish Higher - BBCC
including Maths plus a Science or Technology subject
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 26 points
including Maths plus a Science or Technology subject
Leaving Certificate - Higher Level (Ireland) (first awarded in 2017) - H3, H3, H3, H3
including Maths plus a Science or Technology subject
Scottish HND - Not accepted
Foundation Apprenticeship (SCQF Level 6) - Pass
Accepted as equivalent to one Higher at grade B as part of the overall grade profile of Highers required for entry. Any essential subjects at Higher should still be achieved in addition to the Foundation Apprenticeship.
T Level - Pass (C and above)
Engineering, Manufacturing, Processing and Control; Maintenance, Installation and Repair for Engineering and Manufacturing; Design and Development for Engineering and Manufacturing
Year 2 and Year 3
For direct entry applications, please apply to BEng (Hons) Mechanical Engineering. Students can transfer to MEng course subject to results at the end of Year 4.
