Course summary
Design. Create. Build. Repeat
The BA (Hons) Game Design (Game Art) is designed to prepare students for careers within Games by providing them with the core knowledge of games, the rule of play, pacing, project management, character design, 3D modelling, animation, and environment art. The programme allows students to also prepare for high end Game Design (AAA), all the way through to Independent Game Design Practices. This programme will develop and cultivate students knowledge in core Game design activities, designing a range of game art assets that will enter development. They will develop their 2D, 3D, and Animation skills knowledge bases, and skillsets using industry standard software and techniques. Progressing through years 1 and 2, students will develop their ability to plan and develop projects, utilise skillsets that grow and compound their praxis. In year 3, students will be expected to work independently and in collaboration with peers in order to plan, develop and reflect upon a final game project throughout the year.
Assessment method
The course is 100% Assessment based. This means no exams and you can focus on building games, drawing, animating, 3D modelling, and being the best you possibly can be. We will be using game demos, reflective journals, essays, pitches and presentations where you will show off your project to staff. All good artists need to show their work off, so we will help you get comfortable doing so.
