Course summary
Study film and drama in London, one of the world’s greatest theatre cities, and heart of the UK film industry.
Our BA joint honours prorgramme in Film and Drama is an exciting opportunity to study the dramatisation of our world across live and recorded media, and examines interrelated concepts such as production, mise-en-scène and spectatorship. You will be introduced to theories of performance and representation, and to key critical practices of twentieth and twenty-first-century theatre, performance and film.
You'll develop critical skills, which will give you a crucial insight into fundamental aspects of theatre and film, as well as creative skills in theatre and performance making. You'll also develop your communication and research skills, and skills in working collaboratively.
Our staff – leading academics, practitioners and arts professionals – will work with you to make learning challenging and engaging, and encourage you to develop as a theatre and film critic and informed theatre and performance maker.

Assessment method
Assessment typically includes a combination of written and practical assignments, such as essays, performances, presentations, portfolios, scripts, programme notes, reviews, feature articles, artist websites, podcasts and dissertations. Some assessment is based around group work, especially for performance projects and presentations.

A level - ABB
Including at least one A level in a humanities or social sciences subject and at least one essay based subject.
Excluded subjects - General Studies and Critical Thinking.
Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)
Queen Mary University of London welcomes applications from students currently studying Level 3 BTEC qualifications and will consider you for entry to the majority of our undergraduate courses. The typical entry requirements will vary according to the course you are applying for.
Some of our courses require specific subject knowledge which you may not be able to cover as part of a Level 3 BTEC qualification and we may therefore require additional Level 3 qualifications to ensure that you are suitably prepared for relevant courses. A small number of our courses do not accept BTEC qualifications for entry, either as a standalone qualification, or in combination with other qualifications at Level 3.

Access to HE Diploma - D: 15 credits M: 15 credits
We consider applications from students with the Access to Higher Education Diploma. The minimum academic requirement is to achieve 60 credits overall with 45 credits at Level 3, of which 15 credits must be at Distinction and 15 credits at Merit or higher. This must include at least 6 Level 3 credits in arts or humanities modules at Distinction.
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 32 points
6,5,5 in HL subjects, including a minimum of 6 in at least one humanities or social sciences subject at HL. This must also include an essay based humanities or social sciences subject at HL.
Extended Project
We consider applications from students offering an EPQ and may make an alternative offer to include three A levels, one grade lower than our usual requirement, along with a specific grade in the EPQ. For further information please visit: qmul.ac.uk/undergraduate/entry/epq
GCSE/National 4/National 5
A minimum of five GCSE passes to include English at grade C or 4 or an acceptable equivalent will be required.
