Course summary

From September 2023, this course will be taught at UA92’s brand new Business School in Manchester City Centre. Details of the exact campus location will be confirmed in due course.

This one-year interdisciplinary Accounting and Business Management Certificate of Higher Education course will prepare you for a future in business or finance sectors. Career paths include accountancy, auditing, tax advisory, wealth management, banking, business development, project management, marketing and organisational leadership.

The Certificate of Higher Education is just the first year of the Degree and will allow you to experience university-level study, that is the first year of a degree, gaining both subject knowledge and developing personally through UA92’s CPD modules as well. It is taught along with all the other first year degree students and there is no difference in content or teaching or anything whatsoever. Upon successful completion of the course, you simply complete a very short internal application and move directly onto the second year of the full degree programme at UA92. This means you would have completed a full degree in the same amount of time as degree students. Alternatively, should you wish, you can leave with a Certificate in Higher Education after your one year with us.

You will study core accountancy modules, together with business management modules. Giving you an in depth understanding of the critical role of an accounting professional and how they operate in complex business organisations.

You will look at the factors that influence business decisions, how organisations are structured and the importance of financial reporting. As a result, you will be able to provide responsible financial or organisational leadership to a range of businesses from small enterprises to FTSE 100 companies.
This course will enable you to:
• Understand the critical role accounting and finance professionals play in achieving legal, ethical and efficient practices,
• Learn how to support innovation and manage resources to deliver outstanding results for organisations, investors and consumers
• Analyse the key societal, environmental and technological influences that impact businesses and the expectations for accountability
