Course summary

Designed by experienced academics who have worked across key roles in a wide variety of industries, our business management degree is designed to make you highly employable in a competitive global market – giving you the skills you need to secure your first management job or set up your own business.

Whether you are interested in the private, public, charity, social enterprise or entrepreneurial industries, the course team understand what you need to thrive as a business professional.

From core subjects such as operations management, marketing, project management and strategic thinking, through to future-proof skills in enterprise, innovation and digital futures, you will do more than learn the theory – you will learn to apply it through a wide range of ‘real-world’ live briefs and events like international marketing week, where you can spend a week abroad getting hands on experience of international business challenges.

Networking events and guest talks from industry professionals will be your chance to build professional connections, while short- and longer-term work placements offer both academic credit and opportunities to apply your knowledge and skills in a work-based environment – proving to prospective employers that you are work-ready.

And we also offer extra qualifications and memberships on top of your honours degree, including:
• Project Management Qualification
• Student Membership of professional bodies
• Potential for Foundation Chartered Manager and Student Membership status of the Chartered Management Institute

Our curriculum not only studies the contemporary business challenges, but helps identify future trends which you will be managing and leading on within your organisations. And it’s flexible, too – you can tailor your studies towards the areas that interest you.

At Solent you will become part of an active business community, encompassing students, staff and business alumni who inspire and support current students.
