Underpinned by our long-standing and internationally recognised teaching and research in tourism and hospitality, this degree is suitable for those with career aspirations related to global hospitality and the wider travel and tourism industry. It will provide you with an understanding of the origins, development and organisation of the tourism and hospitality industries, and the opportunities and challenges facing organisations operating in and across the various sectors.

This is the Foundation Year option for students who do not meet the entry requirements for the degree course. This additional year of study will give you a grounding in the business and management skills required for this course, building your confidence, knowledge and skills for further study. After successful completion of the Foundation Year, you will progress to the full degree.

Modules

During the foundation year, you will study the following units: Fundamentals of Business & Management, Academic & Professional Practice and Fusion Business Project.

Year 1 core units include: Key areas of study will include: The Tourism and Hospitality Industries; Marketing for Tourism & Hospitality; Understanding the Tourist; Contemporary Hospitality; Hospitality & Food Operations.

Option units: Tourism, Wildlife & the Environment; Sustainable Tourism Destinations.
