Course Overview
Want to study TESOL and a Modern Language but don't have the grades? Our foundation year course will help prepare you for success at university level.
Our BA (Hons) TESOL and a Modern Language (with Foundation Year) will develop your academic skills and intercultural awareness. You'll also gain subject-specific knowledge, giving you the tools you need for success in your degree and beyond.
You'll explore essential study skills and critical thinking. You'll also discover language learning processes and global topics. You'll have the opportunity to tailor your learning experience with optional modules in areas like English, education, and humanities.
After you successfully complete the foundation year, you'll progress onto our BA (Hons) TESOL and a Modern Language. On this course you'll combine practical teacher training with learning a language. You'll have the option to complete the Trinity CertTESOL qualification. You can also choose to spend a year abroad to immerse yourself in a different culture. You can choose from the following languages:
British Sign Language
Chinese
Japanese
Korean
Spanish

Future Careers
After you graduate from BA (Hons) TESOL and a Modern Language you'll have career opportunities all over the world and online. Our graduates have gone on to enjoy successful careers in teaching (UK or overseas), education management, publishing, the civil service, translation and interpreting. Many of our graduates are now working overseas.
If you choose a career elsewhere, you will have acquired many transferable skills which will be highly valued.
Many of our graduates choose to do postgraduate qualifications with us directly following undergraduate study, or after a period of work.
