Economics & Finance with a Foundation Year

The Foundation Year is an excellent pathway to gaining the required knowledge and skills in economics and finance, before joining Year 1 students of the BSc Economics and Finance degree within the School of Social Sciences.

Blending core elements of economics and finance, this degree provides a comprehensive understanding of modern economics and its application within the financial industry. The chance to concentrate on specialist areas such as corporate finance will develop your appreciation of the relationship between economic analysis and financial operations.

In Year 0, you will typically study areas including: Maths & Stats, Foundations of Bus & Management, Accounting and Finance, Critical Thinking, Economics.

In Year 1, you will typically study areas including: Principles of Microeconomics, Approaches to Economic Analysis, Accounting for Economics, Current Issues in Economics, Principles of Macroeconomics.

In Year 2, you will typically study areas including: Intermediate Microeconomics, Problems and Decision-Making in Economics, Intermediate Macro-economics, Economic Policy, Introductory Econometrics.

In Year 3, you will typically study areas including: Advanced Microeconomics, Advanced Macroeconomics.

We offer a variety of assessment methods within our programmes. In addition to traditional examinations and essays, examples of alternative assessment include:

• Data Sampling
