This interdisciplinary programme introduces students to the cultures and societies of Africa, Asia and the Middle East through their languages, literatures and screen culture, providing an understanding of the interconnectedness of these regions in an increasingly globalised world. Students will choose to specialise in one particular region through their languages and module choices, with an optional Year Abroad at one of our partner universities. Combined with History of Art, the degree offers a general grounding across the broad field of courses covering Africa, pre-Islamic and Islamic Near and Middle East, South Asia, South East Asia and North East Asia (China, Japan and Korea).
