BA (Hons) Acting is a performance programme taught by leading theatre and performing arts professionals, training you in key acting styles and contexts. You will produce and perform in shows with established scripts and create original works, while also developing highly relevant professional contacts that set you up for demanding, diverse and flexible careers in the professional theatre and drama industry.
Our annual Acting Showcase events allow our final year students to display their abilities to industry professionals and help them find agents. Alongside your performance skills you will develop ability to critically understand theatre spaces, productions, texts, and cultures, as well as explore the concepts of modernism, romanticism, and post-modernism within theatrical contexts. “I increasingly find I am meeting Chichester graduates doing brilliant things – working at festivals, curating events, performing and developing work.” Mary Osborn, Assistant Artists' Advisor and Programme Coordinator.
Cycle week occurs annually on this course, where you will get the option to choose one of four areas to participate in or perform including solos, directing, workshops and productions. These projects allow you to showcase your talents and ideas in a supportive and collaborative environment, as well as gain experience in a variety of roles in putting on a production.
You will be assessed through a range of assignments including practical and performance contexts. These assessments will include group and individual performances, directing exercises, presentations, creative installations, and essays.
During your degree you will be involved in at least twelve examined performances, including three major productions, over the three years. There are no formal exams.
