Are you interested in the fusion of literature, performance and culture?
Our BA joint honours English and Drama programme iis an exciting opportunity to study the practice of theatre and performance, and the reading of texts from a broad spectrum of genres and periods. It combines practical and theoretical study in a wide range of interconnected areas, providing you with a variety of approaches to drama and literary studies as active and dynamic subjects.
Along with an understanding of how approaches to Drama and English complement one another, you will be encouraged to locate texts and performances in their political, cultural, and historical contexts. You'll also develop your communication and research skills, and skills in working collaboratively.
Our staff – leading academics and artists – will work with you to make learning challenging and engaging, and help you to develop as an informed critic, reader and performance maker.

Your first year includes a combination of practice-based and lecture/seminar-based modules:
Drama: London, Culture and Performance (15 Credits)
Drama: Power Plays (15 Credits)
Drama: Performance, Acting, Text (30 credits)
Plus:
English: Poetry (15 Credits)
English: London Global (30 Credits)
English: Literatures in Time Epic and Romance in the Middle Ages (15 Credits)

Assessment method
Assessment typically includes a combination of written and practical assignments, such as essays, performances, presentations, portfolios, log books, programme notes, reviews, feature articles, artist websites, podcasts and dissertations. Some assessment is based around group work, especially for performance projects and presentations. There are no written exams in English or Drama.

A level - ABB
To include grade A or above in A level English Literature, English Language and Literature or English Language.
Excluded subjects - General Studies and Critical Thinking.
Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)
Queen Mary University of London welcomes applications from students currently studying Level 3 BTEC qualifications and will consider you for entry to the majority of our undergraduate courses. The typical entry requirements will vary according to the course you are applying for.
Some of our courses require specific subject knowledge which you may not be able to cover as part of a Level 3 BTEC qualification and we may therefore require additional Level 3 qualifications to ensure that you are suitably prepared for relevant courses. A small number of our courses do not accept BTEC qualifications for entry, either as a standalone qualification, or in combination with other qualifications at Level 3.

Access to HE Diploma - D: 15 credits M: 15 credits
We consider applications from students with the Access to Higher Education Diploma.
The minimum academic requirement is to achieve 60 credits overall with 45 credits at Level 3, of which 15 credits must be at Distinction and 15 credits at Merit or higher. This must include at least 6 Level 3 credits in English Literature or Literacy modules at Distinction.
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 32 points
6,5,5 in HL subjects, to include a minimum of 6 in HL English A.
Extended Project
We consider applications from students offering an EPQ and may make an alternative offer to include three A levels, one grade lower than our usual requirement, along with a specific grade in the EPQ. For further information please visit: qmul.ac.uk/undergraduate/entry/epq
GCSE/National 4/National 5
A minimum of five GCSE passes to include English at grade C or 4 or an acceptable equivalent will be required.
English language requirements
All applicants to Queen Mary must show they meet a minimum academic English language standard for admission and to be successful on the course.
