Course summary

Learn the importance of network security and in future you could be protecting organizations from cyberattacks.

BEng (Hons) Cybersecurity and Forensics has been awarded full undergraduate certification from the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) – the first undergraduate course in the UK to achieve full accreditation.

Combining three of the most sought-after streams of computing, this course capitalises on the rising awareness of the importance of network security and is a valuable foundation to a successful and well-paid career.

Two years of general computing studies will lead you to the specialty areas of security and forensics, software development and computer networks. After four years, you’ll have the expertise needed to create and analyse effective and secure computer systems.

In the computing career market, the demand for security engineers is increasing. As a graduate, you’ll have the wide range of skills plus the specialised expertise in data security needed to move into a variety of roles.

GCSE Grade C/4 in Maths

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - DDM

Minimum grades DDM (Distinction, Distinction, Merit) in a related subject. GCSE Maths at Grade C/4

Access to HE Diploma - D: 15 credits M: 30 credits

Pass Access to HE Diploma in a related subject with 45 credits overall with minimum 30 Credits at Merit & 15 Distinction. Maths required at Level 2 or equivalent.

Scottish Higher - ABBB

National 5 C in Maths If you are eligible for an adjusted offer under our Contextual Admissions Policy, please see the ‘Minimum Qualification Requirements’ below.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - D*D*

Minimum grades D*D* (Distinction* Distinction*) or DD (Distinction, Distinction) and A Level grade C. GCSE grade C/4 in Maths.

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 29 points

Award of Diploma with 29 points overall with three HL subjects at grades 6, 5, 5. SL Maths grade 4

Leaving Certificate - Higher Level (Ireland) (first awarded in 2017) - H2, H2, H2, H3

Grades H2, H2, H2, H3 at Higher Level. Grade O4 at Ordinary Level in Maths

Scottish HNC - Pass

HNC with C in the graded unit in one of the following; Cyber Security, Computer Networking, Computer Networking & Internet Technology, Computing. Unrelated HNCs may be considered and in addition have National 5 C Maths

T Level - M

T Level must be in: Biology, Chemistry, Computing, Engineering Science, Information Technology, Information & Communication Technology, Software Systems Development, Digital Technology, Psychology, Maths, Physics or any qualification with Science in the title OR additional A-Level in one of these subjects at grade B. GCSE Grade C/4 in Maths is also required.

Minimum Year 2 Entry Requirements

HNC - Pass in Cyber Security, Computing, Computer Networking or Computer Networking & Internet Technology with A in the graded unit.

SQA Advanced Higher - BBC to include one of the following at Higher: Biology, Chemistry, Computing, Engineering Science, Information Technology, Software Systems Development, Digital Technology (NOT Digital Media), Psychology, Maths or Physics.

A Level - BBB to include one of the following: Biology, Chemistry, Computing, Engineering Science, Information Technology, Software Systems Development, Digital Technology (NOT Digital Media), Psychology, Maths or Physics.

BTEC Extended Diploma - DDD in a related subject.

Minimum Year 3 Entry Requirements.

HND - Pass in Cyber Security, Computing: Networking (to include Forensics Fundamentals or Digital Forensics module), Computer Networking & Internet Technology (to include Forensics Fundamentals or Digital Forensics module) or HND Networking (to include Forensics Fundamentals or Digital Forensics module) with Grade B at SCQF.
