About this Course:

The BTEC HND in Mechanical Engineering is an advanced skills based course. It is aimed at those wishing to develop technical knowledge and competencies in engineering, manufacturing and operations. The course will provide you with access to career development opportunities or further study at degree or professional levels. The course will also develop your business and project management skills. It is a one year, minimum 120 credit programme, consisting of 9 modules. The course will suit students who have studied at HNC level and want to develop their understanding to HND level with an aim towards improved employment opportunities or further study at university.

The HNC and HND in Mechanical Engineering are designed to provide you with new opportunities including: Career development, Improved salary, Increased job satisfaction and Personal achievement.

Progression:

  • Upon Successful completion of the course you could into employment of as a mechanical engineer or other related technical engineering occupations.

  • Further study into an engineering degree such as Integrating Engineering BA (Hons) Top-up available at University Centre at Rotherham (UCR)

Entry Requirements:

  • The HND is a one year top-up from the HNC in Mechanical Engineering. The units gained in your HNC must be transferable to suit the HND matrix.

  • Those with significant work experience in the industry may also be considered following interview to assess suitability for the course.

Minimum of two A-Level equivalents in relevant subjects (e.g. Maths, Electronics, Physics)

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)

•A full Level 3 qualification to include a minimum of BTEC Subsidiary Diploma in Engineering or a related subject •Level 3 maths and electrical principles
