Course summary

This course has been designed for students who wish to gain a qualification with a broader range of biomedical science subjects, to allow them to find employment in the medical/pharmaceutical sector. As the degree has accreditation from the Institute of Biomedical Science, graduates will also be able to gain employment as a biomedical scientist. However, you will have to undertake additional hospital laboratory training before you will be eligible to register with the Health Professions Council.

Entry requirements for advanced entry (i.e. into Year 2 and beyond)

We will consider the following qualifications for Stage 2 entry:

SQA Advanced Higher: AB to include Biology/Human Biology. Chemistry, English and Maths are required at National 5 grade C or above if not held at Higher.

GCE A Level: BCC to include Biology at grade B. Chemistry, English and Maths are required at GCSE grade 4/C or above if not held at A Level.

A relevant HNC or HND from one of our partner colleges will be considered for entry into Year 2 or 3 subject to meeting requirements.

In a science related discipline.

Access to HE Diploma - M: 45 credits P: 15 credits

Pass 60 credits to include 45 at Level 3 at grade merit in a related discipline. Other higher level subjects may be required

Scottish Higher - BBBB

To include Biology/Human Biology. Chemistry, English and Maths are also required at National 5 grade C if not held at Higher.

Scottish Advanced Higher

Accepted

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 28 points

To include Higher Level Biology at grade 4. Standard Level Chemistry, English and Maths are also required at Grade 4 if not held at Higher.

Leaving Certificate - Higher Level (Ireland) (first awarded in 2017) - H2, H2, H3, H3

To include Biology. Chemistry, English and Maths are also required at grade O3 if not held at Higher.
