On this course, you'll study tourism, hospitality and business with a unique, international specialism. Not only will course content reflect the global tourism and hospitality industries, you'll get hands-on experience at our strategic partner La Trobe University. Opportunities for learning are not only classroom based. On nominated modules you will work closely with students studying the same award at La Trobe University, Australia. This unique opportunity will enable you to develop business skills essential to succeed in a globally connected organisation.

In your final year you will work as a team to resolve real life business issues and engage in hotel simulations. These skills are essential in preparing you for your future career in the hospitality and tourism industries.

Work placements

In your second year you will undertake a year-long study abroad with our partner in Melbourne. While overseas, you will undertake 120 hours work experience as part of your year of study.

Networking opportunities

Throughout your course you will engage with tourism and hospitality stakeholders. Many of our modules include guest speakers, so you will benefit from our close working relationships and well-developed industry networks with leaders in the industry and our executives in residence. You'll also have opportunities to engage with one of our industry mentors.

Where will I study?

You study at City Campus through a structured mix of lectures, seminars and practical sessions as well as access to digital and online resources to support your learning.

Qualification requirements

UCAS Tariff - 112 - 120 points

This must include at least 64 points from 2 A Levels or equivalent BTEC qualifications. For example: BBC-BBB at A Level DDM in BTEC Extended Diploma. Merit overall from a T level qualification A combination of qualifications, which may include AS levels, EPQ and general studies

Access to HE Diploma - M: 15 credits

Access - an Access to HE Diploma with at least 45 credits at level 3 and 15 credits at level 2. At least 15 level 3 credits must be at merit grade or above, from a QAA-recognised Access to HE course, or an equivalent Access to HE certificate.

GCSE/National 4/National 5

English language or literature at grade C or 4 Maths at grade D or 3

Please be aware that the University operates a ‘gathered field’ approach for admission to this course. A gathered field approach involves grouping applications together and is used where the candidate quality and level of interest in the course exceeds the number of places available. The number of places available will be agreed in partnership with La Trobe University each admissions cycle. Some applicants will be offered a place, some will be unsuccessful. Where possible, unsuccessful applicants will be considered for an alternative course subject to course entry requirements.

International/EU students must also apply for a separate visa for their year of study in Australia at La Trobe University at an extra cost to themselves. If for any reason a visa cannot be obtained students would be able to complete their studies in the UK at Sheffield Hallam University through a transfer to the BSc International Tourism and Hospitality Business Management course.

Our tuition fees for UK students starting full-time undergraduate study in 2025/2026 are regulated by the UK government and are yet to be confirmed. For an indication, our tuition fees for UK students starting full-time undergraduate study in 2024/2025 is £9,250 per year. During your placement year you will pay a reduced fee of £1,200.

If you are studying an undergraduate course, postgraduate pre-registration course or postgraduate research course over more than one academic year then your tuition fees may increase in subsequent years in line with Government regulations or UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) published fees.
