Course summary

The Business Management and Finance programme gives you an overall knowledge of all of the crucial factors within the business sector, as well as a focus on accounting and finance.

Business is brought to life on our business management and finance degree with focus on current real-world business and financial scenarios. You will work on live business projects and case studies to develop your confidence, business knowledge, financial acumen, entrepreneurial mind-set and resilience. By its nature, Business Management is a multi-disciplinary programme.

You will explore a range of topics such as finance, accounts, taxation, management, enterprise, information systems, market research and marketing to provide you with a strong foundation of both finance and business management needed by employers today.

This degree will teach you management fundamentals to deal with today’s complex and changing business landscape. It will also develop your financial focus, should you decide to progress your career in accounts and finance or extend your studies further to gain full Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) accreditation. Some of our modules have ACCA exemption.

You are encouraged to take a placement in the third year of their studies and have the opportunity to undertake a 10 week placement as part of their final year studies.

On this course you will:
-Explore various business management topics, tactics, opportunities, challenges and solutions.
-Specialise in finance and accounting.
-Complete projects with real business clients.
-Be able to complete a 1-year and/or 10-week placement providing valuable work experience.
-Develop valuable soft skills like teamwork, communication, time management and problem solving.
-Have the opportunity to take part in events and activates including trips, events and business forums.

We have recently obtained Chartered Management (CMI) accreditation for BA (Hons) Business Management and Finance which provides you with assurance that our degrees meet current employer requirements of aspiring managers. In addition to your degree, you will be eligible to achieve the Level 5 Diploma or Certificate in Management on graduation at no extra cost or work, if you satisfactorily complete mapped modules. Research shows that CMI accreditation improves your employability within a graduate level job and if you are interested in a management career, this qualification can improve your potential of securing a first level management position. You can apply for ‘Chartered Manager’ status on graduation to improve your management career potential.

Merit overall with a C in the Core.

The University welcomes mature applicants who may not have the standard entry requirements listed here. As an alternative, a 'non-standard entry portfolio' may be set for the applicant to complete in order to demonstrate their readiness for higher education.
