Course summary

Study for an MSc in Child Nursing and begin your nursing career in this exciting area of healthcare. The Master's degree in Child Nursing at CCCU is designed for graduates from any field of academic study. Upon successful completion, you will be eligible to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) to become, and practise as, a registered Child Nurse.

Become a critically aware, creative, and compassionate nurse through the varied curriculum on the MSc Child Nursing. Through course content that will help you become a rounded practitioner, you will be become a nurse who is able to practise care across communities and within multiple settings.

You will be taught both nursing theory and practice through modules with explore everything from nursing ethics, through to anatomy and physiology, as well as management and leadership in nursing. Student nursing placements are a key part of MSc Child Nursing at CCCU. You will work directly with children experiencing changes to their physical and mental health in primary, secondary, and tertiary care settings. These experiences will ensure you gain the knowledge, skills and attitudes to prepare you to be a practitioner and leader in nursing care.

Professional accreditation

On completion of the course, you will be eligible to register with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) as a Registered Child Nurse. Our newly approved course meets the NMC 2023 standards.

Specialist facilities

As a healthcare student, you will have access to our specialist, industry-relevant, simulation facilities. These simulation suites allow you to practise hands-on skills in a fully-equipped, realistic hospital environment.

Canterbury is just 50 miles south-east of London and less than an hour by high-speed train from St Pancras. Located on a UNESCO World Heritage Site the campus offers state-of-the-art buildings, right in the centre of a vibrant and world-famous cathedral city. Entry requirements

Qualification requirements

For the MSc Nursing you will hold a Bachelor's degree with Honours at a 2:1 in any subject or a 2:2 in a health related subject, such as Biological Sciences, Psychology or Public Health.

You must also hold maths and English GCSE grade 4-9 (A-C) or Functional Skills Level 2 or equivalent.
