Course summary
The European Studies (French pathway) BA is an interdepartmental study course that allows you to study Modern Europe from a French perspective. You will study the politics, history, language and contemporary culture of France in depth. This will prepare you for the third year, which is typically taught and examined in French at Institut d’Etudes Politiques (Sciences Po), our current French partner.

Please note that A-level General Studies, Critical Thinking, Thinking Skills and Global Perspectives are not accepted by King's as one of your A levels. Must include French for standard pathway.
Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016)

Access to HE Diploma - D: 33 credits M: 12 credits P: 0 credits
Access to Humanities Diploma (or similar subject). In addition applicants must either offer an academic qualification equivalent to A-Level grade A in French for standard pathway, or, take the DELF or DALF (minimum DELF B2).
Scottish Higher - ABB
Must be a combination of three Scottish Highers and two Scottish Advanced Highers. We do not count the Higher and Advanced Higher in the same subject.
Scottish Advanced Higher - AB
Must be combined with three Scottish Highers. We do not count the Higher and Advanced Higher in the same subject. Applicants applying for the standard pathway must hold grade B in Advanced Higher French. Alternatively, if you meet these grade requirements, but do not have academic study of French, the DELF or DALF will be accepted as evidence of proficiency in French (minimum DELF B2).
International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 35 points
35 points overall or an aggregate score of 17 from three Higher Levels. There is no required subject for the Ab Initio pathway. Must include grade 5 in Higher Level French for the standard pathway.
Notes: The total point score of 35 includes TOK/EE.
Leaving Certificate - Higher Level (Ireland) (first awarded in 2017) - H1, H2, H2, H2, H2, H2
Must include French for standard pathway. Alternatively, if you meet these grade requirements, but do not have academic study of French, the DELF or DALF will be accepted as evidence of proficiency in French (minimum DELF B2).
Leaving Certificate - Ordinary Level (Ireland) (first awarded in 2017) - Not accepted
Cambridge International Pre-U Certificate - Principal - D3, D3, M2
Please note that Global Perspectives is not accepted by King’s as one of your Pre-U Principal subjects. Combinations of Pre-U principal subjects and other qualifications (such as A-levels) will be considered. Must include French at grade M2 for standard pathway.
T Level - Not accepted
Ab initio pathway: None.
Standard pathway: French at grade B or equivalent.
Alternatively, if you meet these grade requirements, but do not have academic study of French, the DELF or DALF will be accepted as evidence of proficiency in French (minimum DELF B2).

All International applicants to Undergraduate programmes are required to pay a deposit of £2,000 against their first year’s tuition fee. This deposit is payable when you firmly accept an unconditional offer to study with us, and will be offset against your tuition fees when you join King’s.
