Course summary

Professionally approved by the Health and Care Professions Council and British Dietetic Association, the BSc (Hons) Human Nutrition and Dietetics degree at Cardiff Met contains two major elements: The academic component based on campus and clinical training, which occurs in three separate places within the course.

Both elements are essential for the achievement of the course objectives and award of the degree with eligibility to apply to the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) for registration as a dietitian.

Due to this programme being NHS funded and therefore limited places being available which may fluctuate each year, unfortunately deferred applications cannot be considered.

Cardiff Met provides a Foundation Year route for applicants who do not meet the entry requirements for Year 1 entry.

Grade combinations totalling 120 points considered with grades CD in Biology and Chemistry

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme - 0 points

Overall Pass to include H6/H5 in both Biology and Chemistry

Welsh Baccalaureate - Advanced Skills Challenge Certificate (last awarded Summer 2024) - C

120 points from at least 3 A levels or equivalent to include grades BC in Biology and Chemistry. Skills Challenge Certificate accepted as the third subject

Leaving Certificate - Higher Level (Ireland) (first awarded in 2017) - H1, H1

Other grade combinations totalling 112 - 120 points considered, to include H1 in Biology and Chemistry. Minimum grade H4 considered within points

GCSE/National 4/National 5

Five GCSEs at grade C or above/grade 4 or above to include English Language, Maths & Science. For Welsh applicants we will accept either GCSE Mathematics or Mathematics-Numeracy. Five Scottish National 5 subjects at grade C or above to include English Language, Maths & Science.

OCR Cambridge Technical Extended Diploma - DDM

In Applied Science subject (covering Biology and Chemistry)

T Level - M

T level in a Science subject will be considered alongside a further relevant Level 3 qualification

Work experience and knowledge of the work of a dietitian including when and where this was undertaken, together with evidence of communication skills should be listed clearly in your personal statement.
