Are you looking to establish your photography skills, career and style? If so, this programme could kick-start your journey into the exciting and fast-paced world of photography. You will have access to our photography studio, digital post production facilities and will learn from experienced practicing lecturers. This course starts each September and is awarded by the University of Surrey.
• Taught over two full days per week, the course gives you more flexibility in balancing work or family commitments
• Recent gallery trips have included Paris Photo (Paris), Foam (Amsterdam), Bauhaus (Berlin) and Fotomuseum (Antwerp).
• This degree could lead to careers in photography areas as diverse as advertising, editorial, fashion, fine art, PR and documentary filmmaking
• Guest speakers have included documentary photographer Mark Neville, fine art photographer Claire Strand and editorial photographer Daniel Stier
• During your photography degree, you will be working with small to large format cameras, studio lighting, digital post-production suites, Adobe software, traditional darkroom facilities and much more
Photography is an ideal subject if you are interested in working on creative, expansive and challenging projects while developing your technical skills and creative style. You will have opportunities to exhibit your work, as well as time to produce an individual portfolio, to secure your place in the creative industries.
WHO IS THE PROGRAMME FOR?
This course is perfect if you have an interest in photography and other creative areas, and would like to pursue further study to enhance your current qualifications or kick-start a new career path. You might currently be studying a Level 3, A Level, or Access to Higher Education course; be returning to education after a break, or wish to transfer from another higher education institution. It may also be possible for you to join this course in its second or third year following relevant qualifications and/or experience in the workplace.

A wide range of assessment methods are used in this programme, which have been chosen to suit the subject material being taught. The range of assessment methods used in this programme includes portfolio of practical work, production report, assessed coursework/assignments, formal assessment, formal examination, practical demonstrations, project reports and presentations.
HOW WILL I BE TAUGHT?
You will be taught through class-led technical and theoretical study. During each module you will produce a visual response to a set brief that is backed up with written research and evaluation. As the course progresses, greater emphasis is placed on you to build an independent visual language whilst at the same time placing a context to work produced.
Being taught over two full days per week, the course also gives you more flexibility in balancing work or family commitments.
