How you learn

All our courses are designed around a set of key principles based on engaging you with the world, collaborating with others, challenging you to think in new ways, and providing you with a supportive environment in which you can thrive.

Based in the Sheffield Business School, you’ll join a global community where business leaders, researchers and 7,000 business students all come together to solve problems and make things better.

Our academic experts are highly skilled professionals, bringing their cutting-edge knowledge and industry research into the classroom.

Key Themes

On this course you’ll study the changing nature of the international business environment and how this impacts business processes, transactions and leadership. You’ll also focus on financial aspects such as markets, risk and the sources of finance.

This coverage of two discipline areas will give you a broad focus for the sectors and roles in which you may later work. We’ll prepare you for the diversity and complexity which accompany a globally integrated and internationally focused business environment.

On some key modules, you’ll have opportunities to tailor your learning experience, including the flexibility to choose assessment tasks that align with your preferences and goals.

Applied learning

We think the best way to learn something is to do it in the real world. This guides everything we do at Sheffield Business School.

Live Projects

Through our partnerships with leading businesses and industry experts, we offer you valuable opportunities to gain hands-on work experience, build your network and acquire the essential skills demanded in the workplace.

You’ll also gain skills by completing an International Management Research Project. From leadership and finance to cross-cultural management and sustainable development, you’ll take an in-depth focus on a particular theme of business and management.

Field Trips

We offer trips to a variety of organisations, including local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and multinationals with operations in the UK. These are great chances to see the types of environments you may be working within in the future.

Networking Opportunities

You can connect with employers through Careers Days and guest lectures – gaining valuable insights into the challenges that real-world businesses are facing. You may also be able to network with previous graduates who share their experiences while empathising with the stage you’re at in your career.

You can also join the student-led International Business Society or the Sheffield Hallam Finance and Banking Society to discuss and debate current events in the economic and business world. The society arranges social events and hosts guest lectures by academic experts and industry practitioners.

We’ll also encourage you to take part in competitions, with prizes available for strong projects and inspirational students.
