BA (Hons) Graphic Communication will prepare you for a range of professional opportunities in fields such as advertising, branding, publishing, illustration and digital communication. You will engage in work that explores traditional formats as well as emerging technologies such as augmented and virtual reality as well as UX design, web design and motion graphics.
The course provides an inspiring, challenging course of study that will equip you to develop innovative, creative, communicative, problem solving, time management and decision-making abilities. We want to see you challenge design orthodoxy and pre-conceptions and to appreciate the possibilities of contemporary communication technologies across multiple media channels.
There is a strong emphasis on professional skills development and employability. The programme explicitly seeks to develop specific skills and competences to meet local, regional and national employer’s needs to prepare you to undertake roles at higher technician and professional levels. Much learning is concerned with the professional understanding and orientation of commercial design briefs and individually determined self-initiated projects. This is expressed through the assembly of a design portfolio and a public exhibition of work through a degree show at the end of course.
