Course summary

The foundation year of this Coventry University degree will be delivered from our CU Coventry campus. Course delivery from year 1 of the degree course onwards will be from Coventry University campus.

This course aims to provide you with a solid grounding for building a career in the sports and exercise industry.

The foundation year seeks to develop your core understanding within the sciences, in addition to developing our professional and communication skills further. Students who successfully complete their foundation year will then progress onto the Sports and Exercise Science BSc (Hons) degree within Coventry University’s School of Life Sciences.

The degree provides the opportunity to learn how the healthy human body works during exercise, how to prevent or rehabilitate following injury and how sport and physical activity promote health.

Preparing you for a variety of graduate level career options in industry, professional sport, health and education, the degree aims to provide you with a strong scientific understanding of human physiology, psychology, anatomy, biomechanics and biochemistry.

Alongside an appreciation of the physiological, psychological and biomechanical factors influencing human performance it also aims to help you develop effective listening, verbal and non-verbal communications skills through the opportunity to gain first-hand experience of situations directly related to applied sport and exercise science
