A degree in Mechatronic Engineering allows you to combine mechanical skills, smart electronics, and robotics with control systems in order to address a range of complex engineering projects, all with a focus on sustainability – a theme critical to all engineering disciplines. Your career opportunities are vast and so is your earning potential allowing you to create the life you want in the future.
As a professional mechatronic engineer, you’ll have the opportunity to drive this sustainability agenda forward by getting involved in the design of functional products, from large aircraft all the way to robotic manufacturing lines.
This course sets out to ground you in the key principles and practices of several disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, electronic, control and computer systems. These academic disciplines are supplemented with the development of your skills in creative thinking and creating practical design solutions, two skills essential to the professional engineer.
Why Study Mechatronic Engineering BEng(Hons) at University of Huddersfield?
Gain hands-on real-world experience by taking part in an optional supervised work placement in your third year of the course. You’ll be learning from the best on campus too, as the University of Huddersfield has been rated Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) 2023.
In the fourth year, you’ll work on a supervised individual research project. It’s possible to align this with one of the Master’s team projects, which involve the design, building and friendly competitive testing of either a road, airborne or rail vehicle – for example, Team HARE, Team Hawk or HudRail.
