The four year BMus (Hons) Vocal Performance is a specialist training for
singers, with extensive one-to-one vocal tuition, training in accompaniment skills, and including French, Italian and German language classes for classical specialists, and ensemble skills for jazz and rock singers.
You will study the art of performance, have coaching in French, Italian and German languages, learn how to cope with performance anxiety, the use of gesture in performance, and concert and event hosting. You will have the opportunity to study Alexander Technique, Yoga, dance and acting alongside a wide choice of contextual modules.
Our ensembles are involved in a lot of performance work along with a rich programme of concerts, recitals and master classes by visiting artists.
You will study in the University of Chichester Conservatoire, which has one of the largest and liveliest music departments in the UK with a community of over 400 student performers. You will access facilities including computerised recording and media studios, well equipped practice rooms and an acoustically superb performance venue.
The following entry points are available for this course:
Interview: Candidates will be required to demonstrate, in a performance audition, ability in an instrument or voice and display musical awareness and skill. Applicants with high levels of performance skills may be considered for a lower academic offer.
The University welcomes mature applicants who may not have the standard entry requirements listed here. As an alternative, a 'non-standard entry portfolio' may be set for the applicant to complete in order to demonstrate their readiness for higher education.
