OVERVIEW
Marketing is an essential part of every business. Whether it’s operating on the high street or online, the industry needs trained professionals with the creative spark, technical know-how and business skills vital to help companies succeed. If you want to start your career in marketing or are looking to build on previous experience, our Marketing Management foundation degree course will equip you with the tools to thrive in this dynamic field.

You will gain a thorough grounding in marketing principles, creativity, innovation and the business-ready skills sought by employers, while you will be able to customise your studies through a range of specialist optional modules. Our University is also accredited by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), enabling you to undertake a professional marketing qualification during or after completing the course.

Thanks to our extensive industry contacts, you will learn from the professionals through guest lectures and apply theory to practice in a range of live projects and case studies. You will have the chance to go on an overseas residential trip and the opportunity to gain invaluable work experience in events and marketing with the option of a paid 48-week work placement, while our Digital Creative Studio allows you to build a variety of specialist skills including video production, livestreaming and podcasting.

FACILITIES
Students on our marketing courses have access to our Digital Creative Studio, featuring state-of-the-art facilities including a video production studio with 4K cameras and green screen technology. The studio also hosts audio podcasting, vision mixing and editing facilities, as well as a creative media and design lab with graphics tablets, high-spec computers and industry-standard media technology including Adobe Creative Cloud software.

If you want to set up your own business, our Enterprise Hive provides a wide range of start-up support, including incubation space, tailored mentoring from industry experts and networking opportunities.

PLACEMENTS
Our course offers you the option of a paid 48-week work placement, during which you will not incur any tuition fees.

Qualification requirements

UCAS Tariff - 32 - 56 points

Level 3 qualifications are accepted at UCB for entrance, a minimum of 32 UCAS Tariff points will be required. If you are unsure if your qualification is accepted call us on 0121 604 1040 or email admissions@ucb.ac.uk.

A level - CD - DD

UCB will accept A Level in General Studies for this course and will also take into consideration applicants who are studying an extended project.

Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma (first teaching from September 2016) - PPP

This can be achieved from either an Extended Diploma or a combination of smaller BTEC qualifications.

Work-based: We also give equal consideration to applicants who are currently in work and wish to apply to UCB. To apply, you must have a minimum of 3 years’ relevant work experience, demonstrating management or supervisory duties. Your application must also include a reference from your line manager supporting your entry to higher education. For further details please contact Admissions.

Students who are studying a mixture of qualifications will receive an offer that will be inclusive of all Level 3 qualifications.

Additional fee information

UK:
If you are a UK student enrolling on a Foundation Degree or a BA/BSc at University College Birmingham in 2021/22, your fee for this academic year will be £9,250. A half year tuition fee is £4625.
This is a yearly fee, and will increase with inflation in subsequent years (in line with the government’s permitted rise).
If you are an English student studying your first higher education qualification, you can apply for a tuition fee loan from the Student Loans Company. You will not start repaying this loan until you leave the course and are earning over £25,000 a year.
If you live in Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland, you should apply to Student Finance Wales, Student Finance Northern Ireland, or SAAS. The loans and grants available to you will differ from those available from Student Finance England.
UCB does not charge for 24 or 48 week placements.
